Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Maddi Niebanck was 22 years old when a scheduled brain surgery turned into an emergency stroke.
What followed was a journey most people couldn't imagine — waking up completely paralyzed on her dominant side, unable to speak, swallow, or see out of the left half of both eyes. Now nearly nine years later, she's living independently, traveling the world, and still making real gains through neuroplasticity therapy at NeuroAnimation of Lexington.
In this episode, Maddi shares her story as a stroke survivor, disability advocate, public speaker, and author — and what it felt like to open a heavy door with her affected hand for the first time.
"Obstacles are opportunities." — Maddi Niebanck
